Valley Springs Sees Damaging Flood

June 15, 2014, 5:30 PM by Kathleen Serie

Valley Springs Sees Damaging Flood
VALLEY SPRINGS, SD -

Up to seven inches of rain hit the area last night, which has brought not only water damage to homes in the area, but even some collapsed basement walls as well.

“What really got us is I believe they said up by Hardwick and Edgerton area, they had eight and a half inches up there, eight to nine. So, that's all got to come past here too, so you had that nine inches and our six inches, and you've got a lot of water,” Valley Springs Fire Chief Don Johnson said.

With so much rushing water covering roads, Johnson warns drivers to avoid these areas, even if the water looks shallow.
