A 123-year-old South Dakota football rivalry that has been on hiatus for nine years heats back up Saturday afternoon.
The University of South Dakota Coyotes are traveling up to Brookings to face the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits in the teams' first Missouri Valley Football Conference matchup.
The 7-3 Jackrabbits are seeking their eighth win and a shot at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The 1-9 Coyotes are looking for their first conference victory to enter the offseason on a positive note.
The in-state rivalry was put on hold in 2003 when SDSU moved up to Division I. The Coyotes have since followed suit and joined the Jackrabbits in the MVFC.
Some 15,000 fans are expected to pack Coughlin-Alumni Stadium for the 2 p.m. game.
