KELOLAND News received a phone call from Madison Mayor Roy Lindsay.
He says the roof fell in on their clear well, contaminating the water. He urges Madison residents to use water sparingly and to boil the water until further notice.
According to the Madison Public Works Facebook page:
If you have to use the water it must be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to any use. This means, drinking, washing, showering, etc.
Crews are currently pumping all the water out of the well and will work through the night cleaning it up. As a result, Madison Central and St. Thomas will be closed tomorrow.
Anyone with questions can call the Madison Police Department at 605-256-7531.
