Standoff Ends Peacefully In Sioux Falls

Standoff Ends Peacefully In Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The man wanted in connection with a Chamberlain homicide is in custody after a four-hour standoff with the Sioux Falls SWAT Team.

At 10:20 Thursday night a SWAT Team negotiator convinced 36-year-old Kent Davidson to leave the 16th Street and Spring Avenue apartment where he had been hiding.

Thursday afternoon authorities asked for help locating Davidson, who was wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide investigation near Chamberlain.

That case involves the death of a woman who was reportedly dating Davidson but had been missing since Monday. DCI investigators spent the day at a farm ten miles south of Chamberlain, while Brule County Sheriff’s Deputies sealed off a perimeter. Neighbors tell KELOLAND News the agents focused their search on a shed on the property.

Authorities say Davidson is also wanted for a parole violation. He was listed as a parole absconder by the South Dakota Department of Corrections in October.

Davidson also walked away from a minimum security facility at the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls back in April 2011 but was found three days later. He was serving time for a Forgery conviction out of Tripp County.

KELOLAND News will have more on this developing story and the investigation into the Chamberlain death as details become available.
