Union County Organizes Flood Cleanup

June 24, 2014, 7:30 AM by Stephanie Gregory

Union County Organizes Flood Cleanup
UNION COUNTY, SD -

People along the Big Sioux River are cleaning up after the flood last week. Since the flood began, Union County officials have been trying to stay a step ahead of it.

Officials have made a webpage for anyone in the area to use if they need information on the flood or the cleanup process.

County officials have two sites for residents to drop off plastic debris and sandbags:

  • Residents south of I-29 exit 4: Old Weigh Station, 929 Military Road, North Sioux City

  • Residents north of I-29 exit 4: Load King, 704 East Rose Street, Elk Point

Other debris left on roadways will be taken care of by officials in the jurisdiction.

On July 1, Union County will pick up all sandbags from Dakota Valley Elementary and the Load King site and take it to the Old Weigh Station.
