Undecided Voters Look Forward To Debate

October 3, 2012, 5:12 PM by Hailey Higgins

Undecided Voters Look Forward To Debate
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Business owners around the country will be watching closely as the presidential candidates meet face-to-face for their first debate Wednesday night.

For the last ten years, Susanne Nester's owned her own store in downtown Sioux Falls. As an undecided voter and a female middle class business owner, she's the key target for both President Barak Obama and Governor Mitt Romney.

And on Wednesday night she’ll be watching their debate closely.

"I hope to hear from both candidates on their plans, what they hope to do to improve our economy and also plans they might have that will help small business owners stay in business," Nester said.

"I think the economy is huge and I think they both offer different visions for how to distribute wealth and how to move forward. That's something I want to hear about," voter Scott Meyer said.

Meyer also plans to watch the first of three prime-time debates.

"I hope they go after each other a little big. They are both really smart people and I think they can have a really intelligent debate. It doesn't have to be done through 30 second ads. I'm excited to hear them speak for themselves," Meyer said.

We also spoke with some voters who say healthcare, social security and Medicare are among their top concerns.

"I don't know what's going to happen. That worries someone my age," 81-year-old Shirley Alberty said.

And while President Obama is likely to lay out specific details before voters, Romney is looking for unfiltered access to undecided voters and Nester hopes small businesses play a big role in the debate.

"Both candidates have good things. Both candidates, in my opinion, have strikes against them. So I am waiting to decide," Nester said.

You can watch the debate on KELOLAND Television. It gets underway at 8 p.m. central time, right after Survivor.
