Uncorked Fundraiser Goes To The Dogs

August 27, 2014, 5:02 PM by Sammi Bjelland

Uncorked Fundraiser Goes To The Dogs
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Johnny Carino's Uncorked event is going to the dogs this year. The fundraiser will donate all of its proceeds to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

Food, desserts, wine and dogs. That's the line-up for this year's Uncorked fundraiser.

"Everybody's got an emotional attachment to a pet. Or most people do have some spot in their heart for pets. Especially ones that need a place to live. So, I mean, it was a perfect match," Darren Newborg, General Manager's of Sioux Falls Johnny Carino's said.

"It couldn't be a better time right now, because we're under construction. So any of the money that we can get extra helps," said Malorie Adamson, Marketing and Public Outreach Coordinator for Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

The event will feature a live band, plenty of food and drink, and the chance to stomp grapes!

Tickets to get into the event are $50 in advance, and $75 at the door. And with that ticket you can get all you can eat pasta, desserts and even wine.

"We organize all the tables by type of wine. So if you like the sweet wine, go to the sweet table. If you like drier wines, there's something for everyone. There's almost 200 wines there," Jon Wikner, Johnson Brothers Sales Manager said.

Carino's teams up with Johnson Brothers, who supply the wine.

Organizers hope to raise $10,000, which can do a lot of good for the pets who come to the Humane Society in rough shape.

"We've seen some come in with gun shot wounds. So then you have to take them into the vet. Some of them have to have legs amputated. We've had one dog come in and it was actually shot in the eye, so we had to have surgery to get the eye removed," Adamson said.

While it is a night of fun, Newborg hopes they can do a lot more for the organization.

"Maybe bring in some more awareness on how many pets need to have homes, because I've heard that they bring in 10,000 pets a year through the humane society. That's a lot of pets. And hopefully that will bring in some awareness on the community of what we need around here and build some funds to help with the organization," Newborg said.

Johnny Carino's will be closing to the public at 3:00 p.m. The Uncorked event starts at 5:00 p.m., Thursday.

You can buy tickets at the door the night of, or ahead of time at Johnny Carino's and online.
