Two Stores Sell Beer To 18-Year-Old Informant

April 26, 2012, 10:24 PM by Ben Dunsmoor

Two Stores Sell Beer To 18-Year-Old Informant
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Every month you hear about the businesses that failed liquor stings in Sioux Falls. Thursday night, KELOLAND News got to ride along during the undercover operation.

Sioux Falls Police checked nearly two dozen liquor stores over the course of two hours to see if all of the clerks were checking ID's and complying with South Dakota laws.

The first two businesses checked that were checked Thursday night failed.

The Shop-N-Cart on Minnesota Avenue and the Skyway Liquor Store right across the street both sold beer to the 18-year-old high school informant.

KELOLAND News had a microphone on the teen who showed both clerks his valid South Dakota driver’s license that clearly said he was only 18 and they sold him the booze anyway.

Sioux Falls Police do these liquor stings every single month so that every store in the city is checked at least once throughout the year.

KELOLAND is putting together a more in-depth look at the liquor stings and will talk with the Sioux Falls Police Chief and the managers of the stores that failed coming up in Friday night's Eye On KELOLAND at Ten.
