Two Men Charged In Sioux Falls Murder

August 6, 2010, 11:23 AM by Kealey Bultena

Two Men Charged In Sioux Falls Murder
MINNEHAHA COUNTY, SD - The two men accused of robbing and kidnapping a Sioux Falls man before his home caught fire are now charged with first degree murder in Minnehaha County.

According to court papers, Benjamin Carter and Payton Strum tied up Joseph Cynkar with a cable, covered his head with a hood and left his body in northwest Iowa. They were earlier charged with kidnapping.

Police say Carter and Strum robbed and kidnapped Cynkar at his Sioux Falls home, drove Cynkar to a wooded area east of Lake Alvin and dumped his body, which was found on July 20.

Autopsy results show Cynkar died of suffocation and a blow to his head.
