Two Arrested For Kidnapping In Lyon County

On July 22, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Highway Patrol responded to a call of an individual who claimed to have been kidnapped.

According to authorities, the victim was taken from Lincoln County to Lyon County and locked in a grain bin on an abandoned acreage in the morning hours of July 22. The victim managed to escape, but was captured by the suspects and taken to a second grain bin in western Lyon County. The victim was able to escape again and ran to a different acreage where they called 911.

55-year-old Craig Allen Olson of Canton, South Dakota was arrested and charged with kidnapping.

As the investigation continued, 32-year-old Oriana Ti Groppetti of Visalia, California was arrested on July 31 in Visalia, with the assistance of the Sioux Falls Area Fugitive Task Force. Groppetti was also charged with kidnapping.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against others involved.
