Two Alcohol-Related Deaths Tied To Sturgis

The 72nd annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has turned deadly.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two people have died in separate alcohol-related crashes.

Forty-eight-year-old James Mills from New Paliestine, IN, lost control while he was trying to slow down on US 14 near Pioneer Drive in Spearfish.  Officials say the motorcycle he was driving slid on the road, killing Mills.  Officials say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

A Minnesota motorcyclist also lost control and crashed on SD 44.  Officials say he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a delineator post.  He was not wearing a helmet and died.  Speed and alcohol also played a role in the crash.  His name has not been released.
