Twenties In April Are Common

The well-above average temperatures in March spoiled us.  With temperatures in the 20s Tuesday morning, many may have made a mad dash to turn on the furnace as the last time we had temperatures this cold was a month ago.

It is just a reminder that we're only in April, as we usually have temperatures in the 20s this time of year.  Since 1990, Sioux Falls averages nine days in April with overnight lows in the 20s or colder.  The coldest morning during that time was when the thermometer fell to eight degrees on April 8, 1997.

We won't get that cold Tuesday night, but we'll have more 20s in eastern KELOLAND.  The cold air won't stay long enough for us to get used to it.  We'll warm the lows back to the 30s and 40s as clouds and even rain are in the forecast later this week and for the weekend.
