South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen is back on the road after he was run over in a south Sioux Falls parking lot by a drunk driver.
And now that the woman who was behind the wheel is behind bars Steen took us on a ride in his patrol car as he hit the highway. Steen went back to full duty as a trooper in February after what many are calling a miraculous recovery.
"I worked pretty hard to get back from what people were thinking was going to happen. I'm not living in the nursing home which they thought. They thought that I'd be a vegetable the rest of my life which I probably put on a little bit too much weight maybe," Steen said.
Steen sat down with KELOLAND News to talk about his road to recovery. We ride along and bring you Steen's story in tonight's Eye On KELOLAND at Ten.
