A Rapid City man accused of beating a woman with a glass candlestick is to stand trial later this spring.
29-year-old Luke Elk Nation has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, aggravated assault and drug charges. He is scheduled for trial May 15-16.
Authorities allege that Elk Nation held a woman against her will in a hotel room on New Year's Eve and severely beat her in the head with the candlestick. He could face more than 40 years in prison if convicted.
