The trial for a Pierre teenager charged in adult court with killing another teen has been scheduled for September.
Judge John Brown on Tuesday set the trial of 17-year-old Braiden McCahren for Sept. 15 at the Tripp County Courthouse.
Brown last month moved the trial from Pierre to Winner out of concerns about the ability to select an unbiased jury due to pre-trial publicity. McCahren's two-week trial was to begin June 2.
McCahren recently got two new defense attorneys to handle his case because his two former attorneys might be called to testify as witnesses.
He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the December 2012 shooting death of 16-year-old Dalton Williams. McCahren was 16 at the time of the shooting that happened in his home.
