The effects of the April ice storm are still among us; trees knocked down will be gone forever.
But a community project involving KELO-TV, Argus Leader Media, Sioux Empire United Way and the Helpline Center is helping re-plant what was lost by treeing the town.
Those eligible are people who are elderly, disabled or have low income. There is no cost to have a tree planted, but there is a limit. Homeowners can only request up to three trees.
The deadline to request trees is this Sunday. You can make your request by calling The Helpline Center at 211.
