After 14 months of construction, the Solberg overpass is ready for traffic.
The added option over I-229 is expected to ease heavy traffic areas in southwest Sioux Falls.
After the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, everyone was able to hop in their cars and be among the first to travel on the brand-new strip of road.
"It's a lot of employees at one point in time in a day that now, if we can split that traffic and take half of them south and half of them north that's good for their commute time," Sioux Falls Director of Public Works Mark Cotter said.
This is the first new overpass in Sioux Falls over I-229 in more than 20 years.
