The push is on to fill construction jobs across both North and South Dakota.
Dakota Construction Careers, made up of six different building trade groups is looking to recruit and train new workers.
The company will hold a series of open houses in a dozen towns across both North and South Dakota through May. The meetings will have information on careers and training opportunities in building trades, including bricklayers, cement masons and plasterers, iron workers, heavy equipment operators, painters and laborers.
Leaders of the Coalition of Construction Professionals say they're recruiting and training new workers to meet the growing demand for labor in the Dakotas to build roads, bridges and community infrastructure to accommodate growing populations in these states.
In February, the six building trade groups came together to address the demand for skilled workers in North and South Dakota. They launched a joint initiative called the "Dakota Construction Careers" jobs campaign. Those involved say this is one of the largest coalitions of building trade groups to ever collaborate on such a campaign.
