Thune Talks About Decision Not To Run For President
SIOUX FALLS, SD - After a lot of consideration, Senator John Thune has decided not to run for U.S. President in 2012. He released a statement on his Facebook page and Congressional website saying he feels he's needed in the U.S. Senate.

During a live interview with KELOLAND's Ben Dunsmoor, Thune says he's had a lot of encouragement to run for president. While he knows his decision may have disappointed some supporters, he has a message for those people.

"Just thank them for their encouragement and their support and their prayers. We had a lot of people across South Dakota who've been encouraging us to do this, and I know some of them are disappointed, I think, as are some of the folks who are encouraging us elsewhere around the country. But at the end of the day, it does come down to making the decision that you think is the right one for your state and your country and obviously, your family," Thune said.

KELOLAND News will have more on Thune's decision throughout the day.
