BROOKINGS, SD -
South Dakota Senator John Thune says he worked alongside Bill Janklow on several issues.
He says Janklow was a very effective governor from the wiring of the schools to several of the stances he took on behalf of South Dakota.
"He was a guy who was very passionate. And he cared deeply about our state. Not everybody agreed with him, but that was not what he was about. He was about moving forward, trying to get things done for the state of South Dakota," Thune said.
Thune was elected to Congress as the state's Representative during Janklow's final two terms in the governor's office.
