WASHINGTON -
Republican Senators elected John Thune from South Dakota as the Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference on Tuesday.
It's the number three leadership position for Senate Republicans. Thune will lead messaging efforts for the conference, which helps communicate priorities to the American people.
Thune will take the position in late January, when Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee steps down. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming will fill Thune's current role as Chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.
