SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Three more Sioux Falls drug court participants will be graduating Wednesday afternoon.
Drug court is a way to hold offenders accountable and keep them out of prison by requiring them to attend regular court hearings.
A dozen people have graduated from the program in Sioux Falls in the past two-and-a-half-years, keeping those offenders out of prison and in the community working at jobs and supporting their families.
Because of the success of the specialized courts, drug and DUI courts will be expanded in a few weeks to three more counties under the new Criminal Justice Initiative.
Ben Dunsmoor will be talking to South Dakota's Chief Justice and take you to the graduation ceremony later on KELOLAND News.
