Dozens of inches of snow fell in the Black Hills over the weekend, leaving thousands without power.
Crews from across the Midwest are here in South Dakota helping restore power, but Mutch Usera from Black Hills Power says the snow and terrain are making it harder for crews to get the job done.
“The biggest challenge is just the wet snow. And the terrain is a little difficult. And of course, getting around the fallen trees and the damaged equipment due to the heavy snow,” Usera said.
Black Hills Power says it has restored electricity to more than 15,000 customers in the wake of a record-setting weekend snowstorm in South Dakota, but about 14,000 customers remain in the dark.
