More than one thousand people enjoyed an early turkey dinner Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls thanks to Goodwill Industries.
The 38th annual Thanksgiving dinner brought a line out the door for people who may not get turkey and pumpkin pie on Thursday.
Volunteers served the trimmings that were free to anyone who needed it Saturday.
The dinner was established in the early 1970s and its continued success inspires those who organize it every year.
"I mean, the food is fabulous but the companionship is what they talk about so it's just as wonderful for us as we hope it is for the people who come," Betty Durfee said.
The meal was served at the SD Achieve Training Center.
