The Future Of Blue Mounds State Park

July 10, 2014, 1:30 PM by Matt Holsen

The Future Of Blue Mounds State Park
LUVERNE, MN -

A popular state park in southwest Minnesota would normally be full of campers this weekend but after flooding, it's closed.

Blue Mounds State Park used to be home to the only lake in Rock County but after it's dam broke in mid-June, the lake looks more like a creek. Crews have been working to repair damages but dam repairs will be costly.

"The future of water recreation in the park is certainly up in the air. I don't have any fear that the park will be closing. Water recreation will be closed for sometime and possibly forever," Blue Mounds State Park Manager Chris Ingebretsen said.

We'll take a look at how much it will cost to restore Blue Mounds State Park to its original glory tonight in Eye on KELOLAND.
