A 32-year-old Tea man has been charged with manufacturing meth following an overnight fire in a Tea apartment building. Jesse Rains has been charged with possessing, making and using meth.
Just after midnight early Tuesday, the Tea Fire Department was called to the apartment on Brian Street where they not only discovered a fire in the apartment, but also materials they believed were used to make meth.
The Tea Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation were called to carry out the investigation.
Rains is also facing a fugitive from justice charge for fleeing from Woodbury County, Iowa, where he faces charges for theft.
