Tea Airport Considers New Way Of Governing
March 21, 2011, 4:37 PM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Officials in Lincoln County are looking at the idea of creating an airport authority to oversee the Marv Skie-Lincoln County Airport located between Tea and Sioux Falls.
The authority would set policy, negotiate contracts and have the power to levy property taxes to help pay for airport operations. 99 planes are based at the airport. It doesn't handle commercial traffic but serves as home base for private planes and a place to land for business travelers who want to avoid the Sioux Falls airport.
In terms of takeoffs and landings, the Tea airport is considered one of the busiest general aviation airports in the state.
