Target Field Debuts Self-Serve Beer Station

Target Field Debuts Self-Serve Beer Station
MINNEAPOLIS, MN -

The Minnesota Twins say Target Field is the first major league ball park to serve beer from a vending machine.

The self-serve beer station debuted Sunday during the game against the New York Yankees. A second station is expected to be added in time for the All-Star Game next week.

To buy a brew from the vending machine, buyers prove their age at a concession stand and purchase a vending card. The machine offers four beers: Bud, Bud Light, Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale.

Buyers can tap up to 48 ounces every 15 minutes. While the tap is automated, there will still be a person monitoring the station to intercept visably intoxicated individuals.

Budweiser and Bud Light will cost 38 cents an ounce while Shock Top Lemon Shandy and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale costs 40 cents an ounce. That comes out to $4.56 for a 12-ounce Bud Light, or $4.80 for either premium option. And just like the concession stands, the machines stop dispensing beer by the seventh inning.
