Sioux Falls Police have ticketed a 26-year-old driver for her involvement in a deadly bicycle crash last month.
The crash happened on July 16 as a SUV was pulling out of a parking lot near 49th Street and Kiwanis Avenue.
As Terra Zahn was looking to turn and go west on 49th Street, a 22-year-old bicyclist was riding eastbound on the sidewalk. The two collided and the bicyclist, Natasha Adams, was killed.
On Monday, police said the Minnehaha County State's Attorneys office will not charge Zahn in the crash but police have issued two tickets.
"After they basically declined and said there were no state violations or they wouldn't prosecute any state charges then we conferred with the city attorney's office to see if there were any ordinances that may have been violated," Sioux Falls Police Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said.
Police said Zahn has been ticketed for failure to use caution and failure to yield from a private driveway. Both carry fines and can be paid without making a court appearance much like a speeding ticket.
