Americans are spending more money to put food on the table.
The Farm Bureau Federation looked at 16 popular items ranging from ground beef to milk and eggs and found most items cost more today than a year ago.
The largest increase was the cost of bacon, which jumped 12 percent. White bread jumped 10 percent and eggs are up 8 percent.
Salad, apples and orange juice cost less.
But when you add all of the items together, the total price is 3.5 percent higher than a year ago.
