Sunday Boredom Busters

The 35th annual Sioux River Folk Festival wraps up today at Newton Hills State Park south of Canton.  Today's lineup includes Reverend Rueben at 11:30 a.m., The Cactus Blossoms at noon followed by Albert & Gage at 12:45 p.m.  Workshops will be held from 10-11 a.m.  Admission is $5.

It's day-three of the Sioux Empire Fair at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  Today's hours are from noon to midnight.  Admission is $7 for adults, $2 for children, free for kids 5 and under.  The fair runs through August 10.

Drop-off donated school supplies and help fill up a school bus for Project SOS.  The collection drive to provide backpacks full of school supplies will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the west side Wal Mart on South Louise in Sioux Falls.

Get a taste of culture at New American Garden Market at the Hy Vee on East 10th Street in Sioux Falls. Vendors are selling their produce from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday morning through September.  Proceeds will help refugee families from nine countries.

The Hartford Farmers Market runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hartford Building Center.  The farmers market will be open every Sunday through October.  the Hartford Building Center is located at 1001 North Oaks Avenue.

Quartziter Days in Jasper, MN include a breakfast served at Memorial Hall beginning at 7:30 a.m.; a 10:30 a.m. community church service at city park followed by a potluck meal at noon; an antique tractor pull and a bean bag tournament both get underway at 1 p.m. in the athletic fields.

Sangria Sunday features live music and South Dakota wines at Strawbale Winery in Renner.  The hours are from 1-4 p.m.  Admission is $5 a carload.

The Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs two free concerts today.  The first is at 3 p.m. at McKennan Park.  That's followed by an 8 p.m. performance at Terrace Park.

Films showing on the 60-foot domed screen at the Wells Fargo CineDome at the Washington Pavilion include Godzilla, Bears, D-Day: Normandy 1944, Waking the T-Rex: The Story of Sue, and Watermelon Magic. 

New Hollywood releases playing at a theater near you include Get On Up and Guardians of the Galaxy, both rated PG-13 and A Most Wanted Man, rated R.
