BROOKINGS, SD -

Make a day of browsing the booths at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival. The festival goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pioneer Park and featured works by more than 200 artists. There will also be an early morning church service in the band shell, plus food, antiques and a children's area. Admission is free. Pioneer Park is located on the west side of Brookings on U.S. Highway 14 & 6th Street.

The Salvation Army in Sioux Falls is hosting a Community Picnic from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy food, kids activities, live music and a motorcycle and classic car show. The Salvation Army is located at 800 North Cliff.

Join local congregations for an outdoor worship service at 2:05 p.m. in Sioux Falls Stadium. Your free will offering to Take Faith to the Ballpark will go to Feeding South Dakota.  Following the service, everyone is invited to build food sculptures outside the front gate. Then take in the Canaries game against Grand Prairie at 4:05 p.m.

The Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre is hosting an Ice Cream Social from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Indulge in Dairy Bar ice cream from SDSU and learn about new exhibits at the museum. Admission is free. The center is located at 900 Governors Drive.

Baltic's East Nidaros Lutheran Church is hosting an Ice Cream Social from 5-7 p.m. The menu includes grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, sundaes and lemonade. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for kids, free for ages under five. East Nidaros Lutheran is located 2-miles south and a half-mile east of Baltic Corner.

VFW Post 628 is hosting a Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 am to 1 pm. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children. The VFW is located at South Minnesota and Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls.

The Hartford Farmers Market begins a new season today at the Hartford Building Center.  The hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The farmers market will be open every Sunday through October.  the Hartford Building Center is located at 1001 North Oaks Avenue.

The Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs two free concerts today. The first is at 3 p.m. at McKennan Park. That's followed by an 8 p.m. concert at Terrace Park.

Sangria Sunday features live music and South Dakota wines at Strawbale Winery in Renner. The hours are from 1-4 p.m.  Admission is $5 a carload.

Films playing at the Wells Fargo CineDome in the Washington Pavilion include Chef, Bears, D-Day: Normandy 1944, Great White Shark and Watermelon Magic.

New Hollywood releases playing at a theater near you include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, rated PG-13 and Begin Again, rated R.
