South Dakota's oldest and largest family event takes place today on the lawn of the governor's residence in Pierre. The 61st annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt begins at 1 pm for kids up to age 10. Children's entertainer Phil Baker will perform on the lawn at 12:15 pm.
The annual Easter Sunrise Service at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial goes from 7-9 am Mountain Time. It costs $11 to park at the Shrine of Democracy. The grounds at Mt. Rushmore are open through 11 pm.
Family Fun Day at The Journey Museum in Rapid City is all about The Good Earth. Take part in crafts and activities related to Earth Day, plus kids receive a free take-home packet. Family Fun Day costs $4, $1 for museum members. Today's hours are from 1-5 pm. The Journey is located at 222 New York Street in Rapid City.
The Song Everlasting, a new Easter Cantata set to folk and country music, will be performed at the historic Palace Theater in downtown Luverne, MN beginning at 7 pm. Admission is free.
Check out a festive Easter Display in southwest Sioux Falls while helping the Make A Wish Foundation. The display is located at 5700 S. Holbrook. As you drive by, you can pick up a Make A Wish envelope to make a donation. The display is in honor of a 5-year-old boy named Ashton, who's awaiting a bone marrow transplant.
