Sunday Boredom Busters

LARCHWOOD, IA -

     Brides to-be are eligible to win thousands of dollars in prizes at the Professional Image Wedding Showcase at the Grand Falls Casino Resort Event Center in Larchwood, IA.
     More than 75 wedding vendors are set up in two levels of the resort from noon to 4 pm.
     The showcase also features a bridal runway fashion show and a Dig for Diamonds.
     Admission is $5.
     The showcase is a fundraiser for Avera's Think Pink to support breast cancer awareness.  

     Cinema Falls launches its 2013 season with Shorts in Winter, a program featuring winning film shorts from the 39th Student Academy Awards.
     It all gets underway with a reception at the Icon Lounge in downtown Sioux Falls at 5:30 pm.
     The films begin at 6:30 pm.
     Tickets are $10.
     Winter shorts apparel is not required, but will likely be rewarded.
 
     It's the final day of a weekend estate sale of personal items belonging to the late Senator George McGovern.
     The sale takes place from 9 am to 6 pm at 2615 S. Ridgeview Way in Sioux Falls.
     The items for sale include books, photographs, furniture, jewelry and statues.
     Sales of McGovern's book An American Journey will go to Feeding South Dakota

     Dakota Spirit is hosting its annual Valentine's Classic Cheer & Dance Competition at the Sioux Falls Arena.
     Cheer team performances begin at 9 am.
     Award ceremonies are at 1:30 pm and 4:45 pm.
     Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students, free for kids under five.

     The Sioux Empire Community Theatre presents the comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Sioux Falls.
     The performance is at 2 pm.
     Tickets are $10.

     Brandon and Valley Springs American Legion Posts and the Brandon Valley American Legion baseball team are hosting a Pancake Breakfast.
     They'll be serving from 8 am to 1 pm at the Valley Springs Post located at 508 Cliff Avenue.
     Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids.

     Our Redeemer Lutheran Church  is hosting a Soup & Pie Supper and Bake Sale from 4-6 pm.
     Tickets are $5.
     Our Redeemer Lutheran is located at 2200 S. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls.

     Susie McEntire and Mark Eaton present a Cowboy Church Service in Rapid City.
     It's at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center beginning at 10 am.

     Pianist Alessio Bax performs works by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich during a concert at the Washington Pavilion.
     The performance is at 2:30 pm in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall.
     Tickets are $10 - $45.
