Sunday Boredom Busters

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

     NAMI Sioux Falls is hosting its 20th annual Candlelight Vigil and Walk to raise awareness about mental illness.
     It starts at 6 pm with prayers, music and speakers in the Fellowship Hall at First Lutheran Church at 12th and Minnesota.
     That's followed by the 8 block candlelight walk.
     Refreshments will be served following the walk.

     Eleven remodeling project are featured at today's Showcase of Remodeled Homes in the Sioux Falls and Hartford areas.
     You can tour the homes from noon to 5 pm.
     Admission is $5 for all the homes, with the proceeds going to Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation.

     A Benefit for Larry Felcher, a father of three who's battling cancer, will be held at Rooster's Pub in Garretson.
     The benefit includes live music, a bake sale and raffles from 2-7 pm.

     If you have some raking to do this weekend, the city's two leaf and tree branch drop-off sites are open.
     They're located on East Chambers Street by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, and other other site on North Lyon Boulevard, west of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
     Today's hours are from noon to 5 pm.
     It's $2 a carload.

     Benson's Flea Market is the longest-running flea market in South Dakota.
     It goes from 11 am to 4 pm at the Expo Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
     Admission is $2.

     Country Apple Orchard is hosting a Pumpkin Festival.
     You can pick your own pumpkins from the patch from noon to 5 pm.
     There are also kids activities plus pumpkin pie available in the country store.
     Country Apple Orchard is located 5 miles south of Sioux Falls on Minnesota Avenue.

     Learn how to Swing Dance for free at the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls.
     Beginning lessons start at 1 pm.
     Open dancing follows from 1:30-4 pm.
     All ages are welcome and no partners are needed.

     Vendors will sell fresh meat and produce, plus canned and baked goods at the Hartford Farmer's Market from 11 am to 2 pm.
     The Farmer's Market is in the Hartford Building Center at 1001 North Oaks Avenue every Sunday through October 28th.

     St. Magdalen's Catholic Church in Lennox is hosting a Soup & Pie Supper from 4-7 pm.
     The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for kids and free for ages 5 and under.

     St. Stephen's Parish in Bridgewater is hosting a Sausage Supper from 3-7 pm.
     The cost is $9 for adults, $3.50 for kids.

     St. Wenceslaus Parish in Tabor is hosting its Annual Bazaar from 2:30-7 pm.
     The bazaar includes food, games, concessions and prizes.

     There are more than seven acres of twists, turns and dead ends at a Corn Maze at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park on Interstate 90 near Brandon.
     The hours are from 1-5 pm.
     The cost is $8; $5 for kids and free for ages 3 and under.
    
     Bethany Home - Brandon is hosting its Grand Opening.
     A program will be held at 5:30 pm in the community room.
     Food and refreshments will be served at 6 pm.
     Tours of Bethany Home and Bethany Meadows will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm.
