Sunday Boredom Busters

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

     The crime-thriller Headhunters is the final installment of the Cinema Falls Film Series in downtown Sioux Falls.
     A social hour begins at 5:30 pm at the Icon Lounge, with the movie following at 6:30 pm.
     Tickets are $11.50.

     The final day of the Badlands Astronomy Festival includes a 9 am rocket-launching workshop in the town of Interior
     That's followed by solar observing at 2 pm in front of the Ben Reifel Visitors Center.
     A public star party starts at 8:30 pm at the Cedar Pass Campground Amphitheater.

     Stocks, street rods, Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs and motorcycles are featured at the Celebrate Community Church Car & Motorcycle Show.
     Check in is at 2:30 pm, judging goes from 4 to 6:30 pm with the award show starting at 7 pm.
     It's $10 to register, the show is free for spectators.
     Celebration Community Church is located at 1000 South Sycamore in Sioux Falls.

     The Sports Car Club of Siouxland is hosting an Autocross at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.
     The racing goes from 9 am to 6 pm.
     It costs $30 to race, it's free to watch.

     Navigate your way through 11 acres of corn in the design of two owls at the Heartland Country Corn Maze east of Harrisburg.
     The maze is open from noon to 5 pm and is located 5 miles south of Sioux Falls on Highway 11.
     Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids.

     Bring a picnic lunch to Strawbale Winery near Renner for Sangria Sunday.
     You can listen to live music and enjoy summer wines from 1-4 pm.
     The cost is $5 a carload. 

     The Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa is hosting a Farmer's Market.
     It goes from 10 am to 1 pm in the casino parking lot every Sunday through August.  

     Experience the history of Sioux Falls in digital sound and laser lights.
     The Falls Park Sound & Light Show takes place a half-hour past sunset.
     The free shows are held nightly at Falls Park through Labor Day weekend

     Combine golf and sporting clays into one unique challenge at Bakker Crossing Golf Course.
     Play 9 holes and shoot clay birds between some of the holes.
     You can bring your own shotgun but the cartridges will be provided.
     2 pm is the shotgun start.
     A two-person team costs $140 for members, $150 for non-members.
     A 4-person team is $275, $295 for non-members.
     Bakker Crossing is located south of Sioux Falls on Louise Avenue

     There's a free open house to the "Pap" Madison Cabin at the Journey Museum in Rapid City.
     The cabin was moved from Rapid City's Halley Park in April and is now furnished with period items.
     The Journey Museum is located at 222 New York Street.

     Renner American Legion Post 307 is hosting a Pancake Breakfast from 8 am to noon.
     The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12, it's free for kids under six.
     The Legion is located across from the Monarch Restaurant in Renner.

     Malek's Fisherman and Adam Sandhurst and the Jolly Jammers perform Old Time Dance Music at the Hartey, Iowa American Legion.
     The music plays from noon to 6 pm.
     The cost is $10.
     The Legion is located at 820 2nd Street NE in Hartley.

     Riverboat Days in Yankton wrap up with a Classic Cruiser Car Show at noon; a Kids Pedal Pull at 2 pm; a Raffle Drawing at 4 pm, plus live music, food and carnival rides through out the day.

     Baltic American Legion Post 175 is hosting a French Toast & Scrambled Egg Breakfast.
     They'll be serving from 9 am to 12:30 pm.
     Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 5-12, free for kids 4 and under.

     The Dell Rapids American Legion Auxiliary is hosting Kids Bingo at the Dell Rapids Legion Hall from 2-4 pm.
     The games are free and open for kids in grades 1st through 8th.
     They'll play for school supplies.
     Kids get an extra card if they bring along a manufacturer coupon that will help military families overseas.
