Fans in all forms took to the floor following the SDSU men's basketball win Tuesday night. But there was one among the Jackrabbit junkies there was one who proves being a super-fan isn't just about size.
Lincoln Sabers spent his post-game with players like Brookings Native Brayden Carlson. While his parents snapped photos the young supporter just smiled. His jersey didn’t say jackrabbits, but the number on it had a connection.
“It is a piece of history. Nate Wolters himself wore that when he was in fifth grade,” Brayden’s dad, Pat Sabers said.
Sabers said Summit League Player of the Year and Tournament MVP Nate Wolters and Brayden are pals.
“And he passed it on to him,” Sabers said, “My son's a big fan of Nate and they are very good friends.”
When fans are friends, you can only expect they follow along. State fans don't know where the Jacks will open their second straight NCAA tournament yet, but these fans plan to be there.
“Last year I rode the bus 22 hours to Albuquerque, NM. So I promised him that if there's another bus trip he could be with me,” said Sabers.
You can find out where the Jacks will play Sunday evening here on KELOLAND-TV Starting at 5 p.m.
