Sullivan To Retire From Sioux Falls Sports Authority

Sullivan To Retire From Sioux Falls Sports Authority
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The Executive Director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority plans to retire at the end of the year.

Mike Sullivan made the announcement on Monday.  Sullivan, who came to Sioux Falls after 28 years in the sports administration business in Jacksonville, Florida, has been with the Sports Authority since it began in 2008.

He helped bring in the Summit League Tournament to Sioux Falls.  The Sports Authority says that tournament, combined with several other events Sullivan has helped bring to the city, has had an estimated economic impact of more than $12 million on Sioux Falls.

Board Chairman Kevin Lampe says a selection committee will help steer the replacement process.  They hope to have Sullivan's successor hired by the end of December.

Sullivan plans to return to Florida to be with his family.
