Sturgis Rally Goers Camp Out On Front Lawns

August 7, 2012, 7:12 AM by Derek Olson

Sturgis Rally Goers Camp Out On Front Lawns
STURGIS, SD -

Sturgis has a population of less than 7,000 people.  So when hundreds of thousands of people flock there for the motorcycle rally, finding a place to stay can be difficult.

In 2011, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally brought more than 400,000 guests through the Black Hills.  And with higher projections for this year, people are having a difficult time finding places to stay.

Many people in Sturgis are not only renting their homes to people visiting for the rally, they're also allowing tent camping in their yards.  If you go down the street you'll see tents and bikes and all sorts of people enjoying themselves.

The motorcycle rally runs through Sunday.
