Heavy liquor store traffic during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is prompting city officials to ask for a second location.
The council has set a March 4 public hearing to discuss the possibility of setting up a second liquor store during the annual event that draws in hundreds of thousands of bikers to the Black Hills every year.
Sturgis City Manager Daniel Ainslie says the second location would be to alleviate the heavy traffic at the city liquor store.
The council is proposing to change the legal description for the off-sale package liquor license in order to allow the second liquor store location.
Ainslie says the city is looking at several potential locations.
