PINE RIDGE, SD -
Representatives from a New York-based consulting firm visited a school on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation as part of a U.S. Department of Education research study examining after-school and summer programming.
The Red Cloud Indian School was one of 15 schools across the nation chosen to take part in the Department of Education study looking into the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
The Manhattan Strategy Group interviewed Red Cloud administrators and representatives from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology about programming on Tuesday and Wednesday. The School of Mines offers summer camps to the reservation youth.
The information provided by the School of Mines and Red Cloud Indian School will be used in a national guide.
