Future mechanics got a crack at practicing their craft for scholarships.
High school teams from across KELOLAND faced off at the Auto Skills Competition sponsored by AAA and Ford.
Students had to find the bugs in brand new cars.
They could be anything from mechanical issues, burned out lights, even racquet balls in key components.
Students say they learned a lot during the event.
“I learned where the second fuse box is at in New Fords. It's actually up under the glove box instead up under the driver's side dash,” Senior Alex Osborne said.
Besides working on cars, the students take a 100-question test, focusing on car repair issues.
Each year more than 10,000 students take part in the competition nationwide.
