Strong winds started in KELOLAND last night with the peak gusts hitting a lot of the area during the morning. The strong winds make for blizzard conditions for much of east and northeast KELOLAND with visibility down to zero at times.
Some of the strongest wind speeds from late last night and early this morning include seventy miles per hour in Aberdeen, followed by sixty-three miles per hour in Sioux Falls. Lemmon and Madison also had speeds in the sixties while speeds of the upper fifties were in Mobridge, Pierre, and Rapid City.
The winds will slow down as we go through this evening and tonight and while we'll get a break from them on Friday, strong winds will return on Saturday.
Though Saturday's winds will not be as strong as Thursday, eastern KELOLAND will still have gusts near fifty miles per hour from the northwest. But the strong winds will not last all weekend; Sunday is looking much calmer and warmer.
