Areas of snow are expanding Tuesday morning and some of the roads are slick. Be watchful for a mixed bag of rain, freezing rain and snow around Sioux Falls Tuesday morning, with all snow in the afternoon. Snow is likely to the north and west as well through the day.
Winter storm warnings are in effect Tuesday through Wednesday for Aberdeen, Mobridge and Spearfish. Winter weather advisories have been expanded south to include Mitchell, Slayton, Minnesota, and Brookings. Sioux Falls is not in the advisory yet, but that could change based on the new data coming in.
A widespread two to five inches of snow is likely in KELOLAND. Heaviest snow is likely north of Sioux Falls including Aberdeen and Watertown, with lesser amounts south toward Yankton. The light, fluffy nature of the snow tonight will create areas of blowing snow as well, a problem for travel as this system develops. The strongest northwest winds will arrive in Sioux Falls tomorrow morning.
