We have slick roads Monday morning in northeastern KELOLAND including Aberdeen and Watertown as areas of freezing rain continue. This activity is expected to stay north of Sioux Falls.
Highs Monday will be mild in most areas with highs near 48 in Sioux Falls and 50s in both Pierre and Rapid City. Enjoy this because much colder weather, strong winds, and snow arrives tomorrow.
Winter storm watches have been posted for Aberdeen, Mobridge, and Buffalo late tonight and tomorrow. Snow is likely in these areas with stronger winds. The best chances of heavier snow will be in the northern half of KELOLAND, but Sioux Falls could still manage a 1-3” snowfall by Wednesday. Northern areas could get 5” or a little more. Strong north winds will be a headline too, with gusts to 50mph around Rapid City on Tuesday.
Look for very cold weather the rest of the week with sub zero wind chills likely and highs only in the single digits by Thursday and Friday.
