Storm Center Update-Wednesday AM

December 5, 2012, 6:42 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

It's a cool and breezy start across parts of KELOLAND this morning.  The developing south wind will be a story in the southeast with gusts between 15 to 25 mph during the day.  It will also be quite mild with highs today in the 50s to low 60s in many areas of southern KELOLAND.

Tonight, the first cold front in the series will move through the region, giving us a slight chance of rain showers in the west.  Tomorrow still looks cooler with high temperatures dropping into the 30s and 40ss with areas of rain and snow in western South Dakota. Areas of snow will increase tomorrow night in the west and spread east during the day on Friday. No heavy snow is forecast at this time, but we are likely looking at a 1-3” accumulation at this time.  The chance of snow covers all areas of KELOLAND, but the best bet will be in central KELOLAND, with a few of the models split going both north and south.  We’ll keep an eye on things and will have more later today.

Colder weather is looking likely as we head into the weekend with high temperatures staying in the upper 20ss and lower 30s.  We still have another round of snow possible on Sunday, mainly in the south and east.  This snow event still remains uncertain, so stay tuned to new forecasts for additional information.
