The quiet weather continues across KELOLAND with some chilly temperatures in the 30s across much of the east, with some patchy frost reported.
The morning weather maps show a stationary front across Nebraska and Iowa, with showers and thunderstorms to the south of this front. The rain is really welcome across Kansas and Missouri, but is not forecast to affect our area today.
The planner for Sioux Falls is for mild weather with temperatures near 65 by noon and in the lower 70s by late afternoon. Winds are expected to be light from the northeast.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, temperatures will stay mild in most areas with highs in the 70s. Lower 80s are likely in central South Dakota.
Showers and isolated t-storms are possible tomorrow in western KELOLAND. Futurescan is showing the best chances of rain late in the day.
Unfortunately, that rain is not likely to move east. This chart shows the various computer models and the rain forecast for Sioux Falls the next 7 days. Notice it shows nothing.
The wind forecast is also very light. Between now and Saturday, winds are forecast below 15mph which is quite low for Sioux Falls.
The jet stream has much to do with this quiet pattern. It looks like warmer weather will return next week with 80s likely. I would not be surprised if we had 90s again next week in parts of KELOLAND. The drought continues too…no major storms in sight.
