Hot weather is the headline this morning with a heat advisory in effect for much of southeastern KELOLAND today, including Sioux Falls where the heat index will be over 100 today. While it will be hot, we will be watching the chances of rainfall in the forecast tonight as a cluster of storms is likely to develop west of Pierre late this afternoon and then move east this evening. This is the most organized chance of t-storms for Sioux Falls and the southeast in many weeks. We could be looking at some severe weather as well with a slight risk area including Rapid City and Sioux Falls along with much of southern MN.
These storms will exit KELOLAND overnight, with more activity tomorrow in northern SD. Again, some of the storms could turn severe in the northcentral areas late in the day.
The main cold front will arrive on Friday afternoon where strong to severe weather is expected again. The best chance of organized rainfall will be in northeastern SD and that’s also where the best chance of severe weather will be. After the front moves across KELOLAND, a cooler Saturday is forecast.
Hot weather will be back next week, so enjoy some cooler weather when it arrives.
