Storm Center Update-Wednesday AM
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Scattered rain showers will continue today as low pressure continues to spin to our east. Most of the showers will be result of instability in the air after we break some of the clouds and bring in a few rays of sunshine. Don’t be surprised at a clap of thunder too. Winds will be gusty from the northwest in the Sioux Falls areas, but winds will decrease this evening and tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, the weather looks much better Thursday with sunshine and highs in the 60s, even close to 70 in Pierre. A cold front will march across KELOLAND Friday with highs still in the 60s. Thunderstorms are expected along this front by late Friday afternoon and evening. A cooler weather forecast is expected this weekend with northwest winds. We’ll likely stay in the 50s with a few scattered showers. The best chance of rain will be early Saturday morning. Here’s a closer look at the weather forecast:

Sioux Falls/Southeast:
Today: A chance of scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to between 20 and 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph.

Aberdeen/Watertown:
Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a north northwest wind between 15 and 25 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. North northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph.

Pierre:
Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. North northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 70. West northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Rapid City:
Today: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Light wind becoming north between 10 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 68. West wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south.
