We have a quiet morning in weather in most areas, but winds have increased in the northeast with areas of blowing snow near Sisseton. A winter weather advisory has been posted for Roberts County because of the blowing snow. Warmer temperatures can be expected with highs in the 30s in the east, with lower 40s in the west.
These numbers will likely be even warmer tomorrow ahead of the next cold front that will arrive in northwestern SD during the afternoon. Winds will increase 25-40mph in Rapid City with highs likely in the mid to upper 40s. Pierre will also be in the 40s, but Aberdeen and Sioux Falls will be cooler in the mid to upper 30s. There some hints at a little light mixed precipitation forming north of Sioux Falls ahead of the front tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, stronger winds are expected from the northwest tomorrow night and Thursday. Some light snow may also develop by Thursday, mainly East River.
Colder weather is expected by the end of the week with some subzero lows possible by Saturday AM. No major storms are in the 7 day forecast.
